Odie

Directed by Nick Barr

2026

Overview

Odie Harper can fix anything. Busted pipes, broken locks, wiring that hasn't worked since 1987. Give him the right tools and a few hours and he'll leave whatever you hand him better than he found it. His own life is another story. After 294 days on a shelter waitlist, Odie finally has a bed with his name on it. All he has to do is show up before curfew. What follows is one of the most human days you'll ever watch someone survive. He never lost his competence. He never lost his pride. He just lost the structures that made those things visible. This story is about what it takes to reclaim them.

Sunrise isn't just a subject of this film, it's a partner in it. We filmed inside the Sunrise Homeless Navigation Center, cast members of its community as paid extras, and put its staff on screen. Sunrise holds a 30% stake in Odie, so supporting this movie directly supports the shelter and the neighbors it serves — connecting people experiencing homelessness with housing, healthcare, mail, and a real path forward.
